Honolulu City Lights

O'ahu's official Christmas Tree.

With permission from Keola Beamer, who wrote the haunting and wistful song "Honolulu City Lights", the City and County of Honolulu borrowed the song's title for their annual Christmas Celebration. And what a celebration it is! Early in December they start it off with the official lighting of the Christmas tree in front of Honolulu Hale, followed by the Electric Lights Parade of City and County vehicles, marching bands and a big party afterwards with music, food and other fun. Decorations pop up all over town, with Kalakaua Ave.'s mahagony trees lit up the entire length of the street, shopping centers all decked out, and Santa hats even appearing at the beach. Great fun, and beautiful to look at too!
